Marriage and Family

Marriage was initiated by God from the very beginning of creation. He had a purpose for it. This is the way God used to meet the needs of both man and woman.
Gen 2:18  Later, the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make for him a companion that is a suitable match for him."
Gen 2:21  so the LORD God caused a deep sleep to overshadow the man. When the man was asleep, he removed one of the man's ribs and closed up the flesh where it had been.
Gen 2:22  Then the LORD God formed the rib that he had taken from the man into a woman and brought her to the man.

God was the first one to officiate a marriage. He brought the man and woman together. So even now, it should be God bringing a man and woman together. God must be the foundation for the marriage to last. The Bible says in Hebrews 3:4, "For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God." The Bible further tells us that he who builds a house without the Lord, builds in vain.

The formation of a marriage led to the formation of a family. A wife and a husband are a family. So having children grows the family. A family is very important because it is a foundation of all communities. If families are strong, it means we have strong communities and nations. But if the opposite is true, we shall have weak communities or societies and thus weak nations.

This therefore goes back to the issue of marriage formation. Choosing a suitable spouse is very important. This is because the two are the ingredients of a marriage and family. If foundations are strong, we have strong buildings, which last. Choices are therefore important for young people on who they shall marry.
