The word “salvation” embraces all the acts whereby God intervenes to
rescue mankind from spiritual and any other physical or psychological
destruction. Salvation comprises of deliverance, safety, preservation,
healing, and soundness. It also includes whatever it takes to get us
free and liberated from any kind of bondage. So you can note that if the
above elements can be realized in our lives, salvation can be a
practical reality in our lives. That was God’s intention from the
beginning of creation. After the fall, God introduced a plan to restore
human beings into their original position.
So in order
to be led by the Holy Spirit, there must be a born-again experience.
Experiencing the life God intended for us on earth starts with accepting
Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life. The Bible says, “For
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal
life.”(John 3:16).
Originally, God created
perfect human beings. Those were Adam and Eve. He put His nature in man.
God wanted man to resemble Him. This is revealed in the book of
Genesis.
Gen 1:27 And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Gen
1:28 And God blessed them: and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and
multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over
the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over every
living thing that moveth upon the earth.
You were
created to act like God, to rule the earth and have dominion. However,
man was tempted by the devil. He yielded to Satan and thus lost the
image of God. He lost authority to rule the earth. By so doing, Man handed his rule over the earth over to Satan when he yielded to sin.
The good
news? God made a great plan to redeem man. That is why Jesus Christ came
to the earth. He defeated Satan by dying on the Cross and resurrecting
on the third day. By so doing, He restored man to his original position.
But for that to happen, you have to first confess Jesus as Lord and
believe that God raised Him from the dead.
You can initiate your salvation according to Romans 10:8-10.
Rom 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach:
Rom
10:9 because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and
shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt
be saved:
Rom 10:10 for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. With this experience, one is eligible to be baptized and led by the Holy Spirit.
